There is no need for people living in residential care or sheltered accommodation to miss out on the fun. For residents who enjoy a good afternoon of fun, but can’t attend one of the clubs there is the Golden Leaves Roadshows. These are funded by the charity, and are just like attending one of the Over 55 Clubs, but without having to go out.
Rose takes along a number of volunteers and a local entertainer, and this provides an afternoon of singing, dancing (usually line-dancing), and generally good fun. Some homes invite residents’ family and friends, and some put on some refreshments, and a good time is had by all.
Rose loves to do this type of afternoon,. she says, “It is great to see someone with Alzheimer’s react to the music”.
